Dell Curry's Legacy: A Jersey Retirement Ceremony in Charlotte (2026)

Get ready, Hornets fans! The Charlotte Hornets are set to honor a true legend, Dell Curry, by retiring his iconic No. 30 jersey. This special ceremony will take place on March 19th during a home game against the Orlando Magic, as reported by ESPN sources.

Dell Curry's impact on the Hornets franchise is undeniable. He's second in the team's history for career points, having scored an impressive 9,839 points. Curry's time with the Hornets spanned 10 seasons, from 1988 to 1998, and he was even named the Sixth Man of the Year in 1994.

But here's where it gets even more interesting: Dell Curry's legacy extends beyond his playing days. He's spent a total of 27 years with the Hornets, currently serving as a team ambassador and providing commentary as the team's television analyst for 17 seasons.

The decision to retire Curry's jersey reflects the commitment of Hornets owners Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin to celebrate the team's rich history. Since taking over the team in 2023, they've also brought in new leadership, including Jeff Peterson as president of basketball operations, Charles Lee as head coach, and Shelly Cayette-Weston as president of business operations.

Schnall and Plotkin are also investing in the future, overseeing the development of a new state-of-the-art practice facility, the Novant Health Performance Center, slated to open in the spring of 2027.

And this is the part most people miss... Curry will join Bobby Phills (No. 13) as the only players to have their jerseys retired by the Hornets.

What do you think of this decision? Do you believe Dell Curry is deserving of this honor? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
