Student Ministry Update 9.25.17

Greetings, friends!
Happy Monday! I hope everyone has had a great start to the week. I hope you’re staying cool despite the fact that fall has “officially” begun and this weather sure doesn’t feel like fall!

On September 10th we watched “The Shack” as a group with other members of our church family.  The remainder of this month and October, we’ll focus on the topics that surround this movie for our Sunday and Wednesday nights. Some of the discussion topics are:

-“I never left you” (God’s promises to walk with us, always)
-“The storm within” (In the middle of life’s challenges, we must trust God)
-“Papa’s heart” (God loves us unconditionally)
-“Freedom in forgiveness” (God call us to forgive others)

Leadership seminars have begun!  Some goals of these leadership seminars include identifying and using our spiritual gifts, developing confidence, compassion and leadership skills, and creating, organizing, and implementing a community service project. This past week, we focused on narrowing down service project ideas as well as talking about what goal we have for the year. Please join in me prayer as we grow and develop these students as leaders in our church and community. It truly takes a village!

Our remaining seminar dates are:
October 29
November 5

Please continue to pray for the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Student ministry packed six flood buckets yesterday and will send them with the rest of the church’s buckets to a distribution center. Thank you to all who donated items for these buckets! I know those receiving them will be incredibly grateful.

Young Adults Update: Our first gathering will be this Tuesday (9/26) at Waffle House at 7:30 PM. Please be in prayer for us as we start ministry in the best way- organically, authentically, and sharing a meal around an open table. We will be creating a Facebook group and overall social media presence very soon, so keep an eye out for that!

As always, I’m very thankful for all of you, your servant hearts, and what student ministry was, is, and will become. Have a wonderful week!

Grace and Peace,
